Letter from Geoff Agnor: First Week, Life Choices, Electives

Find out about the first week in Middle School and what's coming up! Read through for more information.

Dear Middle School Parents,

We have almost completed our first week of school! These opening days have been exciting, and it is so gratifying to see our hallways once again filled with the back-to-school eagerness, anticipation, and exuberant laughter of our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. Remind your middle schoolers that this week is a significant transition and that it is typical to feel overly tired and wiped out as our minds and bodies adjust to the new routines of the school day after summer vacation. Our teachers have been busy setting up their classrooms and designing curriculum in preparation for this first week back, and I am confident that our community is on its way to an incredible year of joyful learning and spectacular growth, as we explore our theme, B’Yachad: Stronger Together.

I want to share with you some important information about our robust academic program, which is complemented by dynamic courses offered in J-STEAM, electives, Life Choices, and grade-level prep classes that address the needs of our students and prepare them for each respective year of Middle School. For more information on these courses, see the links below:

In addition, we are planning on offering Lunch Clubs this year with a variety of themes, including paleontology/fossils, gardening, library ambassadors, finance/investment, and sports fanatics.

Applications will be available via Jaguar News for 7th and 8th graders interested in running for Student Council with elections scheduled for October 4.

In the meantime, mark your calendars for Tuesday, September 14 from 7:30 - 9pm for our virtual Middle School Back-to-School-Night (on Zoom), when you will have an opportunity to meet your child’s passionate teachers and learn more about our engaging Middle School program.

Best,

Geoff Agnor
