TUITION MADE AFFORDABLE. EDUCATION THAT'S PRICELESS.

At Sinai Akiba Academy, we believe children deserve innovative instruction, opportunities for growth and a living link to traditions stretching back thousands of years. Through generous tuition assistance, we put it all within reach, partnering with over 30 percent of families to turn state-of-the-art, soulful learning into a reality. We understand the challenges of paying for private education, but we also know the benefits that Sinai Akiba can bring. Because we value Jewish learning, we make it an exceptional value – designing tuition that’s affordable for an education that’s priceless.

Frequently Asked Questions

List of 6 frequently asked questions.

  • Q. How does the Tuition Assistance process work?

Tuition assistance awards are based on demonstrated financial need.  Applications are available online in November.  For new students, once you have submitted your application for admission you can begin the tuition assistance application.  Submission of the applications and supporting documentations is required by January 5 for returning students and February 15 for new students. Applications are accepted after the due date, however, it is to your benefit to apply early.  All tuition assistance information is held in strictest confidence.  Notifications of tuition assistance awards are issued with reenrollment agreements and with admission decision letters and enrollment agreements when files are complete and submitted according to the due dates.  If a determination has now been made a letter will be sent with the tuition assistance award amount once the committee has made a decision.  You will then have one week to accept and return the enrollment agreement.  Our expectation is that each family receiving assistance will keep their award confidential and will make a Sinai Akiba Academy education a priority.
  • Q. Should I apply for tuition assistance?

As you consider the cost of a SAA education, there are a number of factors to think about.  Temple membership is required in addition to overnight trips (grades 4-8), optional after school programs and activities, and financial support of the School (Sinai Akiba Fund). Many families also reach out to grandparents and other family members for additional assistance when appropriate.
  • Q. How do I apply for tuition assistance if I am divorced?

Our school expects that both parents will contribute to the cost of their children’s education to the best of their ability. Consequently, both parents need to submit all requested materials along with the tuition assistance application. Please be advised that non-custodial parents are required to submit detailed financial statements depending on circumstances.
  • Q. How is tuition assistance determined?

Each application is evaluated by a confidential Tuition Assistance Committee.  Our school allocates tuition assistance taking into consideration the FAST determination as well as the data and information that each family is required to provide.  There is no set income or asset level that determines whether a family qualifies for tuition assistance.  All available income sources are considered.  Awards are determined based on qualification and the available funds for the given year.
  • Q. When do I apply for Tuition Assistance?

Complete the tuition assistance application by the due date or as early as possible in the year in which you are applying. For new students SAA must have a completed Admission Application on file before beginning the Tuition Assistance process.
  • Q. Will my child receive Tuition Assistance in subsequent years?

Families must reapply for Tuition Assistance each year. Tuition Assistance is based upon a family’s particular circumstance in each calendar year, but the school makes every effort to maintain appropriate and consistent awards for continuing students.

Generous Partners

The funds for tuition assistance come from a variety of sources, including our operating budget and endowment. The school also receives additional funding for tuition assistance from generous donors and the Jewish Federation of Los Angeles and the BJE (Builders of Jewish Education).
