"Be the Nice Kid"

Check out the latest decor in Ms. Garaway's office inspired by our focus on Derech Eretz.
Sinai Akiba's mission is to engage students in the joy and discipline of learning. We nurture a community of ethical, critical thinkers who, shaped by our evolving Jewish tradition, walk through the world with confidence and humility. Are part of that mission, we embrace five core values:
  • Academic Excellence
  • Kindness & Empathy
  • Ethical Responsibility
  • Soulful Intention
  • Love for Israel

This year, Sinai Akiba is placing a spotlight on the value of Kindness & Empathy, or, Derech Eretz. Ms. Garaway, Grade 6-7 English Teacher, was inspired by this yearlong focus and how Sinai Akiba is building a community of Derech Eretz, and brought that sentiment right into her classroom.

“The 'Be The Nice Kid' quote is a mindful message about being yourself, not competing with others, acting with integrity and choosing to be kind,” she said. “I wanted this message on display in my classroom so that my students could consistently reference it, as words to live by. And It looks awesome!”
