A Message from Interim Head of School Betty Winn

Dear Parents,

We know that many of you have heard about the new case of Coronavirus that was diagnosed in a Los Angeles resident who recently returned from the AIPAC Conference in Washington, D.C. While many local schools and organizations sent delegations to this conference, including Sinai, we have been notified that the infected individual is not a member of Sinai Temple or Sinai Akiba Academy.

As we have been since this outbreak began, our leadership will continue to monitor this ever-changing situation. Late last night, I spoke with local health officials who deemed it unnecessary for us to close the school and encouraged us to continue to operate as usual with heightened attention to preventative hygiene. We understand that this is a challenging time for families who are concerned about the health and safety of their loved ones. We encourage you to review information from the CDC on how to stay healthy and prevent illness

While school is remaining open at this time, should you wish to keep your child home, we understand and simply ask that you please contact the school to let us know.

If you have questions about Coronavirus or are concerned that you or someone you know may have been exposed please contact me at bwinn@sinaiakiba.org. Also, if your child has been diagnosed with the flu or another illness that is keeping him/her out of school for more than two days, please notify Nurse Kathy at ksmith@sinaiakiba.org.

Rest assured that we are doing all that we can to keep our community safe and healthy.  We will continue to communicate with you as there are any new developments.

Warmly,
Betty Winn, Interim Head of Sinai Akiba Academy
