Summer Program

Intermediate/Advanced Coding

Chasen Todd
Session 3: 11:30am-12:30pm
Grades: 5-8
This will be a hybrid class for those that have some level of coding experience and want to be able to continue their learning as well as those that have more experience and are up for more of a challenge. Students will be given two options (Code.org or Glitch) as platforms to strengthen their knowledge of coding concepts such as conditionals, events, and functions. For those that choose Code.org, we will be working on different coding projects that will be Minecraft themed. They range from learning about ocean environments all the way to using Artificial Intelligence for good! For those that choose Glitch, we will start work on text-based coding projects which will involve languages such as CSS, HTML, and JavaScript. Students will learn how to create their own animations and content using a real-time coding environment. After students are comfortable with the platform we will then work on a capstone project where each student will have a chance to create a virtual reality experience according to their interest using the coding framework “A-Frame.”
