Annual Report

Thanksgiving at SAA

Check out some of the activities our Lower School students took part in to celebrate Thanksgiving and share their gratitude this season.
Kindergarten
The kindergarten classes had a Thanksgiving Breakfast on Tuesday, November 26. The celebration began with Tefilot and songs of gratitude with Morah Ilana and Rabbi Feig, and continued with celebrations in classrooms.

Grades 1-5
All students in grades 1-5 attended a Thanksgiving Assembly on November 26, in Ziegler Hall. Students in grades 1 and 5 presented short musical selections about gratitude and kindness.

Grade 4
Our 4th graders put the value of derech eretz into action with the support of the SAA community. They did this for Thanksgiving in TWO WAYS: Prepped food AND donated items.

As part of our school’s commitment to the value of Derech Eretz (Respect, Kindness, and Empathy), our 4th-graders asked students and families to support people in need in our Los Angeles community.

Sinai Temple and Sinai Akiba Academy partnered with the Church of the Good Shepherd in Beverly Hills to help by prepping vegetables; making soup, challah, and dessert; and writing cards for Good Shepherd's weekly lunch for the homeless.

They also collected items that folks could use in the coming weeks.
  • 1st Graders – toothpaste and toothbrushes
  • 2nd Graders – gloves
  • 3rd Graders – socks (multiple packs)
  • 4th Graders – hats
  • 5th Graders - deodorant
  • 6-8 Graders - packages of wipes
  • ECC and Parenting Center families could contribute any of the above items.
