What's New in the Library?
Things are always happening at Sinai Akiba Academy’s Blumenthal Library and here’s an inside look at what’s new!
Visit our new ECC Section
A magical fairytale mural, featuring classic characters like Little Red Riding Hood and the Three Little Pigs, is the cornerstone of a special library section created specifically with our ECC students, teachers, and families in mind. You can snuggle up in a cozy chair for two or pull up a tree stump stool to enjoy our curated collection of age-appropriate picture books and nonfiction, as well as an extensive variety of board books.
Games and manipulatives, like Magnatiles, are also available to engage our youngest patrons. What’s better than sharing a quiet moment reading and playing with your little one...and perhaps trying to guess why the Big Bad Wolf has that twinkle in his eye? What’s more, parents can open a library account and check out up to ten items. Hope to see you soon!
LAPL Student Success Cards for K-8
SAA has an incredible opportunity to partner with the Los Angeles Public Library in a new initiative offering LA area students special library cards called Student Success Cards. With these cards, which can be held in addition to a regular library card, students have access to a host of valuable resources, including:
- Borrowing up to 3 books at a time with no late fees or lost book fines
- Digital books, audiobooks, magazines, newspapers, music, and movies
- Online tutoring and test prep services, including SAT/ACT prep
- Databases in a breadth of content areas
- Online language instruction (which includes modern and Biblical Hebrew)
- Cards are valid until age 21
Teachers will also get their own version of the card, and we envision these resources being used as classroom tools across all grade levels and curriculum. Which means, we are aiming for 100% participation.
How it works:
You don’t have to do anything! SAA will provide LAPL with the required data to process a card for each SAA student, including:
- Student Name
- Valid phone number and email address
If you have questions or concerns about this program or wish to opt-out of the LAPL Student Success Card program, please contact one of our librarians by September 13.
