Yael Mashbaum

Middle School Director
Yael Mashbaum grew up in Los Angeles, attended Sinai Akiba as a student, graduated from Milken Community High School, and received two Bachelor's degrees from Columbia University and the Jewish Theological Seminary. After living in Israel for six years, working at Yad Vashem, and earning a Master's degree in history, Yael returned to Los Angeles and participated in the DeLeT (Day School Leadership in Teaching) program, which led her back to Sinai Akiba as a teacher.

Yael taught at SAA for nine years, spanning 5th-8th grade, and both General and Judaic Studies. She consistently presented strong leadership skills in her oversight and coordination of Middle School Student Council, in addition to many other SAA Middle School trademark programs. She and her husband, Michael, currently have two children in the Lower School. Yael knows this community through and through. She holds a deep passion for Jewish education, absolutely loves Sinai Akiba, and is excited for this incredible opportunity.
