Quick Tips for Families & Students During Online Learning
Check out these quick tips for parents and students heading into online learning environments.
At Sinai Akiba Academy, students are heading back to school via online learning this week, and we have a few things that families can do together to be better prepared. These tips can also apply to other families currently navigating the world of online learning.
Back
- Resume earlier bedtimes so everyone is well-rested and ready for an earlier start to the day.
- Revisit routines that were working prior to Pesach break, and talk about how those routines will be put back in place when school resumes (e.g., regular wake-up time, less screen time).
- Get materials needed for work and for school together and ready to go, placed in a caddy or other easily accessible location.
- Get workspaces cleared off, cleaned up and ready to go, with all necessary devices fully charged and in place as well.
- Be sure school and work clothes are clean and ready to go, including kippahs, t’fillin, tennis shoes for exercise/PE.
- Check the supply of breakfast, lunch and snack foods to easily sustain everyone throughout the work/school day.
- Look over new schedules, note any changes, and talk about how these changes will impact the student and the family.
- Review the rules and limits for the use of electronics on school/workdays and weekends.
- Reach out to teachers or division heads with questions or concerns about schedules and changes.
- Be sure to give everyone a few days to get back into the swing of things and adjust to any changes that have occurred.
