Parents
Sinai Akiba’s parent body is richly diverse, welcoming and respecting the full range of Jewish observance and practice, and embraces a community that includes families from Israel, Iran, South America, Mexico, Russia, Morocco and South America. Parents come together to celebrate holidays and school events, on community service projects and in the classroom. We encourage even our newest parents to get involved in the many opportunities to participate in the life of the school. Our families tell us that the friendships they have formed here have long outlasted their children’s school years.
PTA
The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is a wonderful way to become part of the Akiba family. We value the involvement and support of all our parents. The PTA meets monthly and serves to both build community and also provide invaluable support to the school. Some of the ways our parents participate include:
- Community Building Activities: Sinai Akiba features numerous community building activities and events throughout the year, as well as parent support during life cycle events and education. Sinai’s Night at the Pier, MIshloah Manot, Book Club, PTA Meetings, New parents Welcome Breakfast.
- Fund-raising Activities: A variety of special events are held on a regular basis including the Book Fair, the Holiday Boutique, and the Annual Event and Auction and the BookFair.
- Staff Events : The PTA celebrates our faculty and staff by providing a Staff Back to School Breakfast, a Staff Appreciation Month, a Staff Holiday Luncheon and Staff Appreciation Event.
- School Support Activities: Room Parents serve as liaisons between school and families through such activities as the Lag B’Omer Picnic, Room Parents, Judaic Studies, Family Directory, Hot Lunch and Lost and Found.
SAA Committee
The SAA Committee is the governing body of the school. The committee meets monthly to discuss significant issues relating to the operations of the school. In addition, the SAA Committee has several sub-committees that are responsible for strategic planning, tuition assistance policies, development, recruitment, endowment and other areas of importance as they arise. The SAA Committee is composed of parents, grandparents, Sinai Temple members and community representatives.
