Application Checklist


STEP 1Visit Sinai Akiba Academy
Please call our admissions office at 310-481-3282 to schedule a school visit. We encourage both parents to join us for an Open House event or for a Tour.  Reservations are required for all open house events and tours.

STEP 2—Application
If you would like an application packet mailed to you, please contact the Admissions Department at (310) 481-3282. You can also download a printable version of the Application for Admission.

All of our printable online forms require Adobe Acrobat Reader. You can download the latest version here.

Be sure to include the following items with the application:

  • Non-refundable application fee of $150.00 (paid by check or money order)
  • Copy of child’s birth certificate
  • Recent photograph of child (attach to application)
  • Recent photograph of family (attach to application)

All applications must be submitted by the appropriate deadline:

  • December 3, 2010 for Sibling and DFECC families
  • January 14, 2011 for all families from other schools 
  • As a courtesy, late applications may be accepted if space permits 

STEP 3—Teacher Recommendations and Release of Student Records
Confidential Teacher Recommendation Forms for all applicants are due by January 15th, 2010. Please note that there are different recommendation forms for gesher and kindergarten; 1st grade; and 2nd through 8th grade (one for general studies and one for Judaic studies). Sign and date these forms and give them (together with the pre-addressed stamped envelope) to your current school office or directly to the applicant's current teacher. Forms are to be mailed directly from your child’s school to Sinai Akiba in the envelopes provided.
Student Records for applicants in the first- through eighth grades are due January 14th, 2011. Print your child's name, birth date, and current grade on the Parent Authorization for Release Form. Sign and date the form, and give it (together with the pre-addressed, stamped envelope) to your child’s school office. Forms are to be mailed directly from your child’s school to Sinai Akiba in the envelopes provided.

 STEP 4—Parent interview

Once your child's file is complete, a parent interview will be scheduled with either the admissions director or one of the other administrators. This is a chance for us to get to know you better and ask us any questions you may have. This interview may be scheduled before or after your child's assessment. Please note: Your child’s file must be complete. In order for us to schedule your child's assessment and for the admissions committee to consider the application.

 

STEP 5—Admissions Assessment
In December 2010 or January 2011, you will receive a letter with an appointment for your child's assessment at our school. (Assessments take place in January and February.)

Middle School applicants will also be scheduled for a brief, informal interview with the Middle School Principal.

 

STEP 6—Admissions Decisions

Admissions decision letters are mailed in March.  Contracts and enrollment deposits are due back to Sinai Akiba within two weeks to guarantee holding of your child’s space.

 

STEP 7—Final Report Card

Your child’s current school office must send a copy of your child's final  report card and standardized test scores (when applicable) if your child is to attend Sinai Akiba Academy in September.
